Summary
Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD & Complex Needs - Barnet
Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start
Up to £425 take-home per week | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are working with a supportive and well-resourced school in Barnet to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for the Primary section of the school, supporting pupils with ASD and complex needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has experience in complex SEN settings and is looking to develop their skills further before progressing into teacher training, psychology, therapy, or specialist SEN roles. The school adopts a structured, child-centred approach and provides strong support from experienced teachers and therapists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD and complex needs
- Support communication, emotional regulation and engagement with learning
- Implement strategies linked to EHCPs and individual support plans
- Assist with personal care, sensory needs and structured routines where required
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCo and specialist staff
- Help maintain a safe, calm and inclusive primary learning environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Essential experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Confidence working with primary-aged pupils
- Understanding of safeguarding and SEN best practice
- Background in SEN support, care, psychology, education or related fields
- An interest in progressing into further education or specialist SEN pathways

- Transport links via Northern Line and local bus routes: 34, 107, 125, 263, 384
