Nursery Senior /Room co-ordinator
Main Responsibilities are to:
• Work with the manager to form a professional, effective management team
• Ensure the safety, care and education of all the nursery children
• Help establish and to maintain the high standards of the company
• Supervise, support, monitor, evaluate staff members
• Complete any designated administrative tasks
Main Duties
• To maintain their responsibilities to their designated key group
• To support the manager and be responsible for the efficient running of the nursery
• To carryout administrative tasks if required
• To be vigilant in ensuring the safety and physical wellbeing of any and all of the children and staff in the nursery
• To create and maintain an emotionally secure environment, ensure a warm welcome to visitors and showcase the nursery in the best light
• To plan and prepare resources and deliver a suitable, challenging programme of activities which meets the physical, emotional, social and intellectual developmental needs of the children in your department
• To support, lead, monitor and evaluate the performance of other staff
• To prepare individual education plans when necessary
• To supervise, monitor, assess and evaluate children's progress
• To complete and update records of progress/achievement for children
• To share records with parents
• To treat all information about children and their families as confidential
• To prepare and display children's work in a timely fashion
• To attend all staff and senior staff meetings
• To work cooperatively with others, support the management and their directions, and help create a team spirit
• To adhere to the uniform policy and be good role model to others
• To behave in a professional manner at all times while on duty or in uniform on or off the premises
Team management
• To oversee the quality of observation and planning done by staff
• To ensure staff are aware and meeting deadlines given by the manager
• To be reflective on all aspects of your role and environment
• To observe and correct practitioners practice, give constructive feedback
• To take part in maintaining resources and oversee that practitioners under you abide by the same procedures
• Ensure that children are interacted with and engaged with during play
• Ensure that practitioners capture milestones and achievements through observations
• Ensure that opportunities for children to development are not over looked
• Ensure that cleaning procedures are followed and hygiene routines are practised
• Ensure that risk assessments/temp checks/cleaning and sterilising routines take place and relevant paperwork is completed
• To be knowledgeable of the early years foundation stage – to refresh knowledge and support your team
• To complete any accessible training in order to better the outcomes for the children
• To create strong and trusted relationships with parents in order for them to feel at ease when leaving children in your care
• To train practitioners by your approach to parents in order for consistent relationships and two way flow of information
• To communicate verbally with your team and encourage good communication skills amongst both team and children
• To support your team in dealing with challenging behaviour – ensuring all practitioners are following the same strategies.
