Summary
Barnsley Youth Zone, known as Base71, is dedicated to young people and makes a bold statement about the importance of giving young people high quality places to go in their leisure time. Open 7 days a week including school holidays, the Youth Zone’s purpose is to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults. The state of the art £10 million building provides young people with facilities that are second to none delivering over twenty sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities each session. Offering young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers.
Are you passionate about helping young people with disabilities and additional needs feel included, confident, and able to thrive? Base71 Youth Zone is looking for a Short Breaks Sessional Support Worker – Inclusion & Engagement to deliver fun, safe, face-to-face sessions every Friday during school holidays for young people.
You’ll need experience working with young people with disabilities and/or SEND, along with the energy, empathy, and patience to provide the right support. Confidence in engaging young people with a wide range of needs is essential, as is knowledge of safeguarding and equality, with training provided. It is desirable, but not essential for you to have experience in supporting young people with dressing, hand washing and using the bathroom.
