Summary


Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity to work as a Clinical Fellow ST1/2 in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southend Hospital.

We are a very popular training unit and we are extremely proud of the good feedback we receive from our trainees.

In 2018 we received RCOG award for Top Training unit in the UK for Overall Satisfaction, Gynecology training, Professional development and within top 10 for Obstetrics training based on the TEF survey. In 2017 we were within the Top 10 training units in the country.

***Please note as the post is for a 4 month fixed term contract we will be unable to sponsor for the post***
• The doctor will be expected to show qualities of leadership but also to know their limitations and call for help and advice appropriately
• Trainees will also begin to work independently
• ST1/2 level doctor will be expected to gain the necessary competencies.
• Liaise between Gynae consultants, nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff
• Attend to the day to day management of day case, out-patient and in-patients
• Attend and participate in ward rounds and operating theatre sessions as timetabled
• Attend general and specialist out-patient, diagnostic and pre-assessment clinics
• Teach medical students as directed
• Supervise, monitor and assist the F2 doctors in post take ward rounds as part of the rostered emergency work
• To keep up-to date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required
• Study for higher examinations and maintain continued professional development
