Summary
Key Responsibilities
Personal Care
- Support with washing, dressing, grooming, and continence care
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe use of equipment
- Promote dignity, privacy, choice, and independence at all times
Daily Living Support
- Prepare meals and support with eating and drinking
- Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment
- Support with shopping, errands, and community access (if required)
Medication & Health Support
- Prompt or administer medication (if trained and authorised)
- Observe and report changes in health or wellbeing
- Follow infection‑control and health & safety procedures
Emotional & Social Support
- Provide companionship and meaningful conversation
- Support clients to engage in hobbies, routines, and community activities
- Build trusting relationships with clients and families
Record Keeping & Communication
- Accurately record care delivered using digital or paper systems
- Report concerns, incidents, or safeguarding issues promptly
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, families, and external professionals
Skills & Qualities Required
- Kind, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and manage time well
- Willingness to learn and follow guidance
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in care
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
- Moving & Handling, Medication, and Dementia training
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
