Job Description:

Job Title: Pre school Practitioner

Responsible to: Pre School Manager & Lillybrook childcare LTD Directors

Hours of work : Monday to Friday term time only . Hours To be discussed

Early Years Practitioner (Pre-School)Role Purpose

To work as part of the Pre-School team to ensure children enjoy their learning and development within a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Safeguarding children is central and integral to all aspects of this role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Support and participate in all aspects of the Pre-School daily routine, including:
Registration
Snack time
Toileting
Music and song time
Story time
Be fully aware of and adhere to all Pre-School policies and procedures, including:
Safeguarding
Health and Safety
Fire Safety
Food Hygiene
Drop-off and collection procedures
Work at all times within the Pre-School’s Safeguarding, Inclusion, and Health & Safety guidelines.
Support the setup of a stimulating play and learning environment that reflects the 7 areas of learning, and assist with tidying, cleaning, and resetting rooms at the end of each session.
Ensure that all areas of provision remain safe for children and adults throughout the session.
Report any concerns regarding children, parents, staff, or equipment to the Pre-School Supervisor and the Designated Safeguarding Officer (Jenna Lindow – Manager), following safeguarding procedures and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Provide high-quality play and learning experiences tailored to individual children’s needs, interests, and stages of development. Extend children’s learning through thoughtful interaction, play, and resource choice.
Actively participate in staff meetings, supervision, and appraisal processes. Work towards personal goals through an individualised Personal Development Plan and contribute positively as a team member.
Attend required training and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Keep safeguarding knowledge up to date through regular training and apply this knowledge consistently in practice.
Follow the setting’s confidentiality procedures when handling sensitive information relating to children, families, or staff.
Promote the Pre-School positively to current families and prospective parents.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Pre-School Supervisor or Directors, in line with the setting’s policies, Annual Development Plan, and Business Plan.
Be flexible and provide cover for sickness or staff absence where possible.
Regularly check and respond to staff communications sent via email.
Demonstrate exemplary practice when supporting children with additional and neurodiverse needs, showing compassion, patience, and understanding.
Promote anti-discriminatory practice and maintain professionalism at all times.
Be able to plan activities and demonstrate reflective practice.
Person Specification Essential

Experience working in Early Years.
A genuine passion for making a difference in young children’s lives.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Experience supporting neurodiverse children.
Commitment to inclusion, equality, and anti-discriminatory practice.
Willingness to complete required training, including Maths and English if applicable.
Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
Commitment to understanding and embracing the Pre-School’s ethos and brand.
Willingness to try new and innovative ways of working.
Ability to complete regular assessments during a 6-month probation period.
Desirable

Level 2 / 3 Early Years qualification.
Leadership potential or emerging leadership skills.

Enhanced DBS check
Three references
Proof of Maths and English qualifications
Staff are required to sign up to the DBS Update Service and maintain this throughout employment (guidance will be provided).
