Job Title: General Practice Nurse (22 Hours per Week) Location: Shah Zaman Surgery, North Birmingham PCN Responsible to: Practice Manager / Lead GP Role Purpose: To provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients registered at Shah Zaman Surgery. The role involves delivering a wide range of clinical services, supporting health promotion, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention and control standards. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Duties: Manage and monitor patients with long-term conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, respiratory illnesses). Perform cervical screening in line with national guidelines. Administer adult and child immunisations and vaccinations. Provide wound care and dressings. Carry out routine clinical tasks such as blood pressure checks, ECGs, and phlebotomy. Assist with minor surgical procedures. Offer health promotion and lifestyle advice to patients. Ensure accurate documentation and maintain patient records in accordance with practice protocols. Infection Prevention and Control (IPC): Act as the IPC Lead for the practice. Ensure compliance with infection control policies and procedures. Conduct regular audits and staff training on IPC standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with GPs, other nurses, and the wider healthcare team. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to patient care planning. Professional Development: Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills. Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities. Comply with NMC Code of Conduct and revalidation requirements. Essential Skills and Qualifications: Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Experience in a primary care or community setting. Competence in chronic disease management. Trained in cervical screening and immunisations (adult and child). Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Desirable Skills: Experience with SystmOne or similar clinical systems. Additional qualifications in chronic disease management or minor illness. Hours and Salary: 22 hours per week, including Monday extended hours until 20:00. Salary in line with experience and NHS pay scales. Benefits: Supportive and friendly team environment.
