Summary

We’re looking for Service Assistants to join us at Beningbrough Hall. You'll work across both the visitor admissions area and in the hall itself, providing a warm welcome for all visitors. You'll promote National Trust memberships, support fundraising efforts and inspire visitors with the history of the hall.

Salary: £12.25 an hour

Duration: Fixed Term Contract from February 9th to November 1st 2026

Hours: 575-615 hours across the contract (several roles available). This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the contract.

Average of around 16 hours a week but this will vary. During summer and the busier months, you'll regularly work 4 days per week, and during the quieter months, 2 to 3 days per week. This includes regular weekend and bank holiday working. Rotas are released two months in advance.

Interview dates: Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd January

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here
No day is the same at busy Beningbrough Hall. Built in the 18th century, numerous occupants have changed the face of this Italian-style house and it has an intriguing story to tell. From a wealthy teenager who built this mansion and its occupation by the RAF in WWII, to the re-invention as a country house gallery. In the garden, traditional formal borders contrast with sweeping lawns, and the restored walled garden. With a changing programme of family activities, talks and trails it’s an exciting place to be.

Reporting to the Welcome and Service Assistant Manager, you’ll be part of a team of 16 working at Beningbrough Hall. You'll work both in admissions, welcoming visitors to the property and in the hall itself, engaging with visitors about our exciting exhibitions & Beningbrough’s history.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can, whether you’re working in visitor admissions giving visitors the best possible start and end to their visit; or in the hall, bringing Beningbrough to life for visitors.

Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with a passion for delivering great customer service.

As part of the Growing Support team, you'll understand and promote the value of membership to visitors. You’ll help meet our membership and fundraising targets. You'll be passionate about the work we do, and you'll feel comfortable chatting with visitors about ways they can show support, whether that’s through donations, gift aid, membership or our bookshops.
