Summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Paediatric Neurology (6.5 PA).
The post holder will support the neurology department in its provision of acute inpatient and long term outpatient care to children and young people with neurological disorders within the Eastern region. Regionally we are the principal provider of specialist paediatric neurology services. The post holder will take a major role in the delivery of general neurology and complex epilepsy services at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and within the Eastern Paediatric Epilepsy Network. They will participate in the oncall rota. They will undertake regular outpatient work at CUH and at 2 district general hospitals (outreach centres).
The job plan will be reviewed after appointment and annually in line with trust policy; where possible additional interests of the post paediatric neurology services, both emergency and elective, for the Eastern region. The post holder will be incorporated in the job plan. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly driven team in an established and progressive teaching hospital environment.
The duties of this post include participation in the Paediatric Neurology on-call rota for CUH. This is on an approximate 1 in 5 (pro rata) basis for a week in service. The post-holder will undertake general paediatric neurology and complex epilepsy clinics and will be expected to support the regional clinic model, providing outreach to 2 district general hospitals, which operates to provide direct referral pathways and support shared care.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in paediatric neurology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
