An exciting fixed-term, part-time opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This role will specifically support the implementation and delivery of the one-stop haematuria pathway, based within the newly opened Urology Diagnostic Unit at St Albans City Hospital.

If you are an experienced Sonographer with strong clinical skills, a passion for delivering exceptional patient care within Ultrasound Services, and a commitment to improving pathways in line with best practice, we would welcome your application.

This role will be primarily based at St Albans City Hospital, with occasional requirements to work across other sites including Hemel Hempstead Hospital and Watford General Hospital.

The duties and responsibilities of the post holder include:
• To contribute to the operational duties of the ultrasound departments services across West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust.
• To be an effective member of the Ultrasound team, promoting the trust values through our workforce.
• Provide a high standard of Sonographer/ultrasound services to radiologists and patients.
• Complete ultrasound examinations to a high standard.
• Supervision of junior staff, international recruits and students through induction and training programmes.

Independently undertake, interpret and analyse ultrasound scan findings.

Independently produce a report identifying normality, interpreting variants and common pathologies.

Has a role in supporting training and development of junior staff.

To be independently and autonomously performing a wide range of examinations including complex cases.

Provide expertise, supervision, peer review and guidance to less experienced colleagues.

5% of reports to be peer reviewed using BMUS peer review tool. Learning points from peer review to inform developmental needs.
