Summary

The role
The Technical Assets Fleet Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the seamless delivery of fleet-related technical services within the Fleet Management Team. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of fleet assets, directly contributing to the day-to day functionally and overall effectiveness for Natural Resources Wales.

Your role will include a mixture of desk based work, on-site auditing and engagement across your area. You will provide expert technical support, contributing to the maintenance, procurement and compliance of fleet vehicles and equipment. Your role will help optimize fleet performance, ensure the fleet remains cost-effective, safe and sustainable, supporting the organisation's broader environmental and resource goals.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to an NRW office within the place base / location above and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

What you will do
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivering frontline services within the Asset Tech team within Asset Management for NRW's customers which are essential in ensuring statutory and legal compliance in across NRW's fleet.
  • Ensure that all new equipment meets the needs of the users, delivery a technical and environmental improvement over the replaced equipment and provide best value for money in lines with NRW's procurement practices.
  • Provide technical solutions for the Asset Management function.
  • Ensure NRW outsourced sub-contractors complete repair tasks in an efficient, effective, safe and competent manner which protects the environmental.
  • Undertake audits on all aspects of fleet management and assist in the wider audit function of the Asset management team.
  • Advise staff on the safe operation of vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of all asset technical team knowledge to promote technical advancement within Asset Management group.
  • Provision of statistical and financial information on Fleet Assets.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills
In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.Hold a HNC Mechanical Engineering, or similar qualification, working towards a technical qualification or qualified by experience. Experience of delivering fleet technical related services within a shared service centre environment including experience of modern technologies used on vehicles, plant and equipment including hydraulics, control systems, power transmission and electronics. Ability to communicate and negotiate with users and service providers on technical issues to ensure best operational outcome for the business. Good understanding of using ICT systems and other software / applications to meet the requirements of your area of responsibility. Good organisational skills. Good written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate confidently, with excellent customer service skills. Good inter-personal skills with the ability to work under pressure using your own initiative to meet tight deadlines. Strong IT and accurate data entry skills. Experience of implementing change or process improvement would also be advantageous. Experience of providing support to other technical service team members Welsh Language level requirements
  • Essential: Level A1 - Entry level
