We are looking for a Forensic or Clinical Psychologist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team at King's Norton Hospital on a part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a specialist, supportive setting, delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychological care to individuals with complex mental health needs.

At King's Norton Hospital, we provide intensive treatment within a safe and compassionate environment for adults aged 18 and over from across the UK who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and present with severe and complex mental health conditions.

You will work alongside a highly skilled, collaborative team to deliver a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Our focus is on helping patients stabilise, develop insight, build coping strategies, and make meaningful progress in their recovery. We are committed to achieving the shortest clinically appropriate length of stay, supporting patients to transition safely back home or into ongoing community care.

The role:

This is a part-time position (22.5 hours per week), working Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, offering the flexibility to balance work and personal commitments.

In this role, you will deliver specialist clinical psychology services, including assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and outcome evaluation. Working closely with our experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will play a key role in managing risk, guiding treatment, and supporting the overall wellbeing and recovery of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake comprehensive clinical psychological assessments using a range of methods (file review, interviews, psychometric and behavioural observation)

Complete clinical formulations and structured professional judgement risk assessments

Deliver and evaluate evidence-based individual and group interventions

Contribute to risk assessment, risk management and treatment planning within the MDT

Administer, score and interpret clinical and neuropsychological assessments

Produce high-quality written reports (e.g. CPA, Tribunal reports) and act as a professional witness when required

Support and guide colleagues in delivering psychologically informed interventions

Contribute to clinical governance, audit, service development and training

Maintain HCPC registration, CPD and compliance with regulatory and organisational standards

Participate in clinical and line management supervision

About you:

You will be a HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist with strong clinical, communication and analytical skills, and a compassionate, resilient approach to working with complex presentations.

  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
