Do I need to have experience?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications, full training and support will be provided to help you feel confident in your new role. What matters most is a positive, can-do attitude, a naturally caring nature, and a commitment to excellence, which is one of our core values.
Who else will I be working with?
We have a one-team approach throughout the home. Even though you’ll have your own responsibilities, working alongside you will be Laundry Assistants and Care Assistants. An example of a one-team approach would be if a Care Assistant saw some food on the floor, they wouldn’t just walk over it because it’s “not their job”, they would simply take a moment to clean it up.
Will I be interacting with the people living in the home?
Most definitely. Imagine if you were visiting one of your own relatives, you would be chatting and laughing together, maybe helping to wash-up or folding clothes together. It’s important to not only forge friendships with team members but with the people that live in the home also.
Gibraltar Invest in People
From your first day, you’ll be supported to learn, develop and build confidence in what you do. We believe that when our team members grow, so does the quality of care we provide.
Many of our team take on new responsibilities within their first year. In 2023, 1 in 5 achieved promotion across the Evolve Care Group’s workforce, and our aim for 2026 is to maintain this level of progression - developing new skills, taking on greater responsibility and growing in confidence in the work we do every day, benefiting from greater opportunities, personal growth, and a stronger sense of fulfilment in our roles.
Progression at Gibraltar isn’t about titles, it’s about development, opportunity and recognition. Through our learning and development programmes, we create clear pathways for everyone to build new skills, gain qualifications and take the next step in a career with confidence.
Next Steps
Our interview process gives you the opportunity to make sure Gibraltar is the right place for you. We’ll start by talking you through the basics over the phone, followed by an online interview. We do encourage you to visit the home afterwards and have a look around and meet the team and residents (who we call family members) before making your decision about whether Gibraltar Nursing Home is where you’d like to work.
