Summary

Your role will be supporting the delivery of an efficient, effective and high-quality professional service meeting all financial reporting requirements. You will be involved with delivering core financial controls, providing technical accounting advice and supporting the production of annual report and accounts for the Environment Agency. We have three roles available:

One in our assets under construction team supporting on the c£1bn capital program.
One within our non-current assets team who support the valuation of over £9bn of assets.
One within the financial accounting team who prepare the annual report and accounts.
These are three exciting teams who are key in ensuring the timely delivery of the financial statements for the Environment Agency.

You will be responsible for:

Assisting with the monthly accounting process, reviewing reconciliations throughout the year to maintain financial control.
Maintain the fixed asset register by correctly accounting for additions, disposals, revaluations and impairment where necessary. The role is to provide financial management and control supporting the delivery of objectives, managing risk and feeding into the groups accounts.
Supporting project managers in correctly accounting for their assets under construction and capital spends in line with accounting standards.
Preparing or supporting on the preparation of the interim and year-end financial statements ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, public sector accounting requirements (HM Government Financial Reporting Manual (FReM)) and International Financial Reporting Standards.
Liaising with internal and external auditors in answering technical queries and providing required audit information.
