Summary
This is a one-year post specifically intended for registrars who have completed their final year of training and are post CCT in general surgery, and wish to expand their HPB surgical experience. There will be opportunity to undertake training in advanced HPB surgical techniques such as laparoscopic liver and pancreatic surgery, minimally invasive necrosectomy, surgery for chronic pancreatitis and complex open liver resection. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the delivery of an acute HPB service and may be asked to undertake some sessions independently or under supervision by one of the consultants. The candidate is expected to be competent in laparoscopic biliary surgery. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in all aspects of the departmental research programme allowing enhancement of their CV prior to application for a substantive position as a consultant in HPB surgery.
