My profile

I am a Thirty Five year old man who is registered severely sight impaired but still has some useful vision. I do not require any help with personal care or cleaning. I do need help with other aspects of my life in order to retain my independence. I am interested in Archaeology, History, watching sport and visiting museums. I enjoy swimming and cooking.

I am looking for a sociable PA with a good sense of humour and a positive outlook on life. It is essential that they can drive and have access to a car for work (need to have business insurance travel expenses will be reimbursed. Ideal candidates will have some understanding of sight loss or a willingness to learn. I use IT to keep in touch with friends and take part in hobbies. Occasionally I need someone to be my eyes so basic computer/ mobile phone skills would be useful.

What are the duties?

· Support to source and access interests and hobbies including swimming· Support to get out and about in the community and travel to appointments.· Assistance with non-food shopping.· Assistance with deciphering written instructions.· Support to take exercise and visit places away from home.· Support to prepare some meals and tidy up afterwards.

Requirements:

· Flexibility towards planned activities· Willingness to undertake visual awareness training· Ability to swim reasonably confidently· Basic IT skills· Full clean driving licence.· A n enhanced DBS check will be required· Absolute respect for confidentiality
. Two references will be taken up
. Training will be offered and you will be reimbursed for time taken to complete this
. Right to work checks will be completed
