Summary
Ashiyana House is a new 2 bed therapeutic children's home located in the heart of Redditch, Worcestershire. We are currently seeking full time Waking Night Residential Support Workers to join our vibrant and dedicated team in providing care and support to children aged 8-18 with learning disabilities, Autism and behavioural needs.
The role involves supervising and supporting children throughout the night from 20:00 untill 08:00 the following day. Waking night support staff are expected to remain awake and alert throughout their shift, responding to the needs of children and maintaining security of the home. There is also an expectation to maintain records, health and safety and cleanliness within the home.
If children wake up during the night you will be responsible for helping them to settle back to sleep. At times you may be required to carry out personal care or administer medication in accordance with care plans and risk assessments.
As a therapeutic home we place strong emphasis on creating a environment for children that promotes positive change in emotional regulation and behaviour while building secure attachment and healthy relationships. Therapeutic approaches we use are Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), PACE approach (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy) and Sensory Attachment Intervention (SAI).
This role is 40 hour per week.
This role is expected to begin in March/April 2026.
Role Responsibilities:
*Ensure children are safe and protected during the night as well as ensuring the safety and security of the home
*Develop and implement care plans for children under supervision of Deputy and Registered manager
*Develop and implement risk assessments for children under supervision of Deputy and Registered manager
*Ensure good written and verbal communication with the day team and managers
*Engage with children in activities that promote their development and well-being
*Teaching essential life skills; role modeling
*Communicate effectively with children, parents, social care teams, educational settings and other professionals involved in the child's care
*Carry out personal care, medication administration, help with taking nutrition where needed
*Help to maintain the home, supporting children with daily house chores like cooking, cleaning, gardening and taking care or pets.
*Utilise IT systems for record-keeping and communication purposes
Qualifications:
*A background in childcare, education or a related field is advantageous
*Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents, and colleagues is essential
*Ability to write reports and documents to a good standard
*Level 3 qualification in Residential Child Care or equivalent/willingness to work towards this
*Valid driving license to transport children is desirable
*Proficiency in IT systems for documentation and communication is essential
**All other trainings necessary for this role will be provided by us
