Hays are currently partnered with a boutique SME Consultancy who are currently looking for a Chartered Business Rates Surveyor with 1-3 Years PQE experience. The role is open to people with specialist asset experience across Retail, Commercial or Leisure. The company are offering hybrid/ flexible working as well as continued professional development towards Senior/ Associate level.
Your new role
- Valuation & Analysis:
- Undertake rating valuations for commercial properties in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Analyse rental and market data to support valuation assessments.
- Prepare and submit appeals to the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).
- Negotiate settlements with the VOA and other relevant bodies.
- Advise clients on business rates liabilities, mitigation strategies, and reliefs.
- Prepare clear, concise reports and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of valuations, appeals, and correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with RICS standards and relevant legislation.
- Keep up to date with changes in rating law and practice.
- Work towards further professional qualifications and CPD requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Newly qualified MRICS (or equivalent) with a specialism in Rating.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and valuation software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
