Summary


Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an outstanding individual to join our Board as aNon-Executive Director, with a focus ondigital transformation, data and emerging technologies, including AI.

This is a pivotal time for the Trust. Alongside rising demand, financial pressures and system-wide change, we have a significant opportunity to harness digital innovation to improve patient outcomes, staff experience and how we work across our health system. We are looking for someone who bringsstrategic insight, strong values and inclusive leadership, and who is motivated by making a difference for patients, staff and communities.

You donotneed previous NHS or Board experience to apply. This may be your first Non-Executive Director role. What matters most is your ability to think strategically, challenge constructively, and bring fresh perspective. A comprehensive induction, mentoring and ongoing development will be provided to support you in the role.

As a Non-Executive Director, you will work collaboratively with Board colleagues to provideindependent oversight, constructive challenge and strategic leadership.

Key aspects of the role include:
• Contributing to the development and delivery of the Trust’sstrategy, business plan and corporate objectives
• Supporting effective decision-making and high-quality debate at Board level
• Providing assurance onquality, governance, risk management and financial sustainability
• Supporting oversight ofdigital transformation, data and technology-enabled change, including the responsible use of AI
• Championing the Trust’svalues, inclusive behaviours and commitment to staff wellbeing
• Acting as an ambassador for the Trust and supporting relationships with Governors and system partners

We are particularly interested in individuals who bring:
• Strategic or senior-level experience in a complex environment
• Insight into digital transformation or technology-enabled change
• Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to challenge positively

As a Non-Executive Director, you will be supported through:
• A comprehensive induction programme
• Mentoring or a Board buddy
• Ongoing development and access to NHS NED networks

The Non-Executive Director will:
• Work with Board colleagues to shape and agree the Trust’s overall strategy, business plan and corporate objectives
• Contribute to effective decision-making and constructive debate within the Board
• Develop open, constructive relationships with Executive Directors, providing support and challenge while respecting executive accountability
• Seek assurance that the Trust complies with its statutory, regulatory and legal responsibilities as an NHS Foundation Trust
• Ensure high standards of corporate and clinical governance in line with the Foundation Trust Code of Governance, UK Corporate Governance Code and FRC Guidance on Board Effectiveness
• Oversee financial planning and performance against Trust strategy, ensuring robust financial controls and risk management processes are in place
• Participate in, and where appropriate chair, Board Committees and contribute to their effectiveness
• Hold the Executive team to account for performance and leadership culture, including contributing to executive appointment, appraisal and remuneration arrangements
• Work with the Council of Governors to strengthen local accountability to patients, members and the public
• Promote the Trust’s vision, values and priorities and enhance its reputation with key stakeholders and partners
• Act as an ambassador for the Trust across the local health system and wider health, research and education sectors
• Uphold and role-model the Trust’s values and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
