As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to Construction Director, the Project Manager is responsible for
providing management of the design, delivery and handover of Scope of Work
2000 which is multiple buildings which are being self-delivered by Balfour Beatty
UKCS and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick (BBK). Key responsibilities include but is not limited
to:
- Single Point of Contact for UKCS and BBK and to ensure coordination
between these packages. Overall accountability for these works which is
circa £100m value; - Single point of contact for T.EN for these packages;
- Weekly progress meetings with UKCS and BBK where all elements of
construction are monitored. UKCS and BBK will have responsibility for
planning/designing/delivering/commissioning the buildings but are
technically 'subcontractors'. Project manager will oversee these works to
ensure successful delivery; - Feeding back works into wider construction picture for whole site
including ensuring key incoming services are installed in timely manner; - Working with internal commercial team to manage change and ensure
instructions are administered in timely process; - Tracking subcontractor raised Early Warning Notice and ensuring actioned in timely manner;
- Working with external design team to ensure design released on time
and to required standard; - Liaising with quality team for inspection and handover of works;
- Weekly H&S inspections on areas of scope in addition to daily
monitoring; - Ability to work with planning team to coordinate subcontractor
programmes and integrate into single build programme and constant monitoring/updating of this as required.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:
- Previous experience of managing large value construction packages;
- Professionally qualified person either via BSc or NVQ route;
- SMSTS;
- CSCS.
