Summary

HR Administrator
Shrewsbury
3-4 months Fixed Term Contract
Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm
£24,570 per annum

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive HR Administrator to join a busy and supportive HR team. It’s a varied, hands on role where no two days are the same; ideal for someone who enjoys structure, accuracy, and being closely involved in people processes.
You’ll provide high quality administrative support to the HR function, ensuring that records, systems, and processes are accurate, compliant, and delivered to a consistently high standard. As the organisation operates within a regulated care and education setting, attention to detail and confidentiality are essential Due the location you will need your own transport.
Key Responsibilities in this role include:
• Provide administrative support to senior HR colleagues
• Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, ensuring data protection standards are upheld
• Support managers with probation processes, including reminders, tracking, and preparing confirmation letters
• Monitor the HR inbox, responding to queries and escalating when needed
• Process employee leavers
• Carry out annual driving licence checks and record manager car insurance details
• Coordinate ID badge production for new starters
• Support PVG/DBS applications, renewals, monitoring, and overseas checks
• Assist with onboarding documentation during busy periods or holiday cover
• Complete employment references for former employees
• Endorse professional registration applications where required
• Conduct exit interviews (telephone or face to face) and share themes with HR management
• Take accurate meeting notes and circulate them
• Log appraisal documentation
• Monitor visa expiry dates and notify the relevant HR lead
• Track professional registrations (e.g., HCPC, Social Care Wales)
• Support file compliance for employees moving to bank roles, sabbaticals, or career breaks
• Assist with HR data cleansing and audit activity
• Provide occasional reception cover during holiday periods

Skills and Experience required:

• A highly organised individual, you will demonstrate the ability to work independently and methodically, effectively prioritising a diverse range of tasks while making optimal use of available resources to meet deadlines.
• You will excel at building strong, collaborative relationships both within and outside the organisation, showing empathy, respect for diverse perspectives, and a genuine appreciation for inclusivity.
• You will have a keen attention to detail and strong numerical ability are complemented by advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• You will possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
• Uses their initiative confidently and takes a structured, methodical approach
• Has strong attention to detail and is comfortable working with data and records
• Builds positive working relationships and communicates effectively at all levels
• Demonstrates confidentiality, professionalism, and accuracy
• Is confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
