Summary

Salary: £36,251.93 - £38,419.62 per annum (subject to April uplift)

Staff Responsibilities: 5 Home Visitors, 1 Community Engagement Coordinator

Location: Chester (head office) and home based, with regular travel across the region

Role Purpose
The Cheshire Services Manager is a senior operational role responsible for leading Vision Support’s services across Cheshire West and supporting Home Visiting across North Wales and Cheshire West.

The postholder will manage staff, develop partnerships, increase referrals, and ensure high-quality, safe, and sustainable services that improve independence, wellbeing, and reduce social isolation for people with vision impairment.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
• Lead, support and develop the Home Visiting team and Community Engagement Coordinator.
• Recruit, train and support staff and volunteers in line with organisational priorities.
• Lead on safeguarding for Cheshire services.
• Manage operational risks relating to service delivery.

Service Development & Delivery
• Develop and expand community services, activities and peer support across Cheshire (online and face-to-face).
• Increase referrals through strong partnerships with health, social care and the voluntary sector.
• Develop and maintain effective referral pathways.
• Deliver Vision Impairment Awareness training with colleagues.

Partnerships & Representation
• Build and maintain strong networks with statutory and third-sector partners.
• Represent Vision Support externally as agreed with the CEO.
• Strengthen community engagement and professional awareness across Cheshire.

Monitoring, Reporting & Governance
• Ensure accurate data collection, monitoring and reporting for funders and internal use.
• Complete KPIs, quarterly service reports and annual board reporting.
• Contribute to budgets, funding development and compliance requirements.
• Participate in duty management and deputise for the CEO when required.

General/Additional Information:
• The postholder must follow all Vision Support policies and procedures.
• Flexibility is required, as the role may involve duties not specifically listed.
• Full training and ongoing development will be provided.
• Contact with guide dogs may be required.
• Subject to Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references.



Person Specification

Essential
Minimum of 2 A-Levels (or equivalent).
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport.
Strong understanding of safeguarding.
Proven ability to build partnerships and networks.
Commitment to Vision Support’s values.

Desirable
Degree in a relevant field.
Experience in the sight loss or disability sector.
Experience managing staff teams and caseloads.
Experience recruiting and supporting volunteers.
Experience supporting funding bids and evidence gathering.
