JOB OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Chef Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our independent smash-burger restaurant, StackedUp.
This is a hands-on senior role combining food preparation with operational management. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering consistently high-quality food, maintaining standards, and managing daily operations, while working in collaboration with the business owner on how the shop is run.
This role would suit someone who is confident working independently on a day-to-day basis, but who also values clear communication, structure, and agreed ways of working.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparing and cooking all menu items to a consistently high standard, including:
- Smash burgers
- Hot dogs
- Steaks
- Wraps
- Loaded fries
- Milkshakes, desserts, and ice creams
- Opening, closing, and running the shop on a daily basis
- Ordering stock, managing suppliers, and maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Ensuring compliance with all food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety requirements
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety
- Managing portion control, quality consistency, and waste reduction
- Delivering good customer service and handling customer queries professionally
- Keeping the premises inspection-ready at all times
- Communicating regularly with the business owner regarding operations, stock, and standards
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have:
- Proven experience in a similar food service role (burger shop, takeaway, fast-casual restaurant, or kitchen environment)
- Experience working in a senior or responsible position within a kitchen or food outlet
- Ability to manage day-to-day operations confidently and reliably
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum) – Level 3 preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Experience cooking burgers and fast-food style menus at volume
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- A professional, reliable, and responsible approach to work
- References from previous employers or verifiable proof of relevant previous employment
DESIRABLE (BUT NOT ESSENTIAL)
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Experience with stock ordering and supplier management
- Experience running shifts or small food outlets
- A genuine interest in high-quality burgers and casual dining food
