About the role
Working with our NHS colleagues and Solent Mind to provide Peer Support working within local communities to enhance mental health care at both Primary and Secondary level.
This role involves:
Working with people in one to one and group settings, including the coordination of our Waiting Well service to support their recovery and help them access the support they need.
Oversee the Single Point of Access for peer referrals and triaging the new service users
Lead on the recruitment, induction, and supervision of student placement volunteers from professional caring courses, ensuring they are supported to deliver safe and effective contributions.
Supporting people to develop and use a range of skills and techniques to help their wellbeing through short-term goal focused support, and enable service users to take control of their own recovery
Working with colleagues from across primary care network (GP), Solent NHS Trust Mental Health teams, external agencies and stakeholders to identify people that may benefit from peer support and plan work accordingly.
Working closely with other team members and services to support people using the service in a collaborative, person-centred way, including helping them to identify and articulate their needs and hopes.
About you
You will have a key understanding of the role of peer support in mental health and how to use your lived experience.
You may have experience delivering group workshops or be willing to undergo learning and development to achieve this part of the role.
You will feel confident about delivering 1:1 peer support in the community, as well as managing a set number of caseload.
You will have the ability to manage time and competing priorities and take responsibility for your own workload and accountabilities.
