Are you passionate about shaping the future of finance systems? We’re looking for a Senior Finance Systems Manager to lead the way in managing and optimising our complex finance technology landscape as we transform how Finance operates.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of our Finance Transformation journey. You’ll be responsible for oversight, optimisation, and active contribution to the development and operation of our finance technologies. This is a hybrid role combining oversight with hands-on subject matter expertise, ensuring our platforms deliver stability, security, and efficiency while supporting business growth.
Who Are We?
Not just another building society. Not just another job.
We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.
Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.
Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.
What Will You Be Doing?
You will take ownership of our Finance ERP (Workday), Treasury Management System, and Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) tool, playing a key role in maintaining system integrity, security and efficiency whilst driving best practice in governance and performance. Working closely with Finance, IT, and wider business teams, you will ensure systems remain aligned to evolving business needs and compliant with industry standard.
But this isn’t just about BAU. We’re streamlining processes, reducing administrative overhead, and enabling straight-through data flows. You’ll collaborate with our Finance Systems Change Lead and suppliers to optimise systems, improve data quality, and embed automation.
Further accountabilities include:
- Lead system upgrades, integrations, and enhancements with minimal disruption.
- Maintain system documentation and ensure compliance with governance and audit requirements including configuration records, access logs and process maps.
- Manage system access and controls in line with policy and data protection requirements, including policy reviews and assurance activity.
- Act as liaison between Finance, IT, and vendors, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Oversee the management of relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and service level agreements to ensure optimal service and cost effectiveness.
- Provide first-line support for finance system users, resolving issues promptly.
- Track and report on system service levels and support performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Represent the Society in system user groups and technology forums to share best practice.
What Do We Need From You?
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement. If you’re proactive, collaborative, and ready to make an impact, this could be your next big move.
- Experience with ERP systems across financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting and Treasury Management (e.g. Workday, Quantum, QRM)
- Strong understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or equivalent (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Extensive finance experience, with a strong track record in managing finance systems for 3+ years.
- Experience leading system implementations or upgrades, including the ability to achieve buy-in.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities, flexible to adapt to changing business environments and priorities.
- Ability to lead and inspire teams through change, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
- Strong customer focus and commitment to delivering excellent service.
What’s In It For You?
Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.
We have a range of other benefits available to you including:
- Annual discretionary bonus scheme
- 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
- Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days
- Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
- Colleague mortgage (conditions apply)
- Salary sacrifice scheme for hybrid & electric car
- A commitment to training and development
- Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
- 3 paid volunteering days per annum
- Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
- We care about your health and wellbeing – we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership
Next Steps
We know you may be keen to apply ahead of the deadline, and that’s great. However, due to the Christmas period, all applications will be reviewed in January, so please don’t expect an outcome before then. Thank you for your patience.
