Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Adult Eating Disorders Local Service, in the Out-patient department and Day Unit, to work across both teams, for four days in the Out-Patients department and a Friday to work in the Day Unit.
The Adult Eating Disorders Service is one of the largest services in the country and treats people with eating disorders both nationally and locally. The Out-patient department and Day Unit services are both based at Springfield Hospital and treat local individuals with eating disorders from the 5 London Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Merton, Sutton, and Wandsworth. The services have close links with our inpatient unit, Avalon ward, which is also a national unit as well.

For this role, we offer career pathways to assistant psychology roles within the service. In addition, we offer ongoing training and development in eating disorders to support with patient care.
You will be responsible for assisting the multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of care packages targeted at supporting clients with eating disorders under the supervision of qualified staff. Your role will be varied and include both group and individual work in a variety of settings, in the out-patient team providing community out-reach support to clients in their own homes and/or in local cafes, assisting with therapeutic eating, supermarket shopping and food planning to name but a few. In the Day Unit you will contribute toward rounds and other clinical meetings, support groups and experiential activities and also support with therapeutic eating. There may also be audit and research opportunities within this role.
You must have very good verbal and written communication skills and be willing and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, also be dynamic and motivated with a conscientious attitude to work with this challenging client group. You will be supported by our experienced teams and there will be opportunities for appropriate training linked directly to the post.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting
Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.
The Out-Reach Worker is the role for those who have experience and training, in clinical practice, in a ward or other clinical setting. Out-Reach Workers provide personalised care to service users, undertaking clinical tasks with supportive supervision as required. Those in this role will spend significant amounts of time engaging with people who use our services.
