Summary

Bodmin Town Council is seeking a Head of Operations to join the organisation at an important and exciting point in its development. As the Council continues to modernise and strengthen how it delivers services, this senior leadership role will play a central part in shaping safe, effective and high quality operational delivery across estates, community services and the Council’s programme of capital and regeneration projects.

Working closely with the Town Clerk, Members and Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Operations will lead and support service managers, embed consistent ways of working, strengthen operational systems and ensure the organisation is well prepared to move confidently through the next phases of delivery. This includes introducing clear service plans, modern operating procedures, performance frameworks and improvement led approaches drawn from best practice in local government.

The role combines strategic oversight with hands on operational leadership. You will oversee property, facilities and open spaces, community facing services and events, and support the coordination of major projects and regeneration activity. You will also play a key role in preparing the organisation for future growth, investment and potential asset transfers, ensuring strong governance, compliance and value for money.

We are looking for an experienced senior manager with a collaborative leadership style, strong operational judgement and a commitment to public service. You will be confident working in a political environment, skilled at leading change and improvement, and motivated by delivering tangible outcomes that benefit residents, staff and the town as a whole.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape how a forward looking town council operates, supports its communities and delivers for the future. Applications will only be accepted on the official application form. CVs will not be considered alone, however may be supplied alongside the application form if you like. Applications must be submitted no later than mid-day on Monday 19th January 2026
