Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Deputy Manager to join a warm, supportive early years setting. This role is ideal for a passionate childcare professional who is committed to delivering high-quality early education and supporting children’s emotional, social, and academic development. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure outstanding childcare provision and smooth day-to-day operations.

About the Role

As a Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the leadership and management of the nursery. You will help lead the team, maintain high standards of care and education, and ensure full compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding & Child Welfare: Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times in line with safeguarding policies and procedures

Leadership & Management: Support the Nursery Manager and deputise in their absence, helping to lead, motivate, and manage staff

Quality of Care & Learning: Deliver high-quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework

Staff Supervision & Development: Support staff training, inductions, appraisals, and ongoing professional development

Parent Partnership: Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals

Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating nursery environment

Administration: Assist with registrations, observations, assessments, and policy implementation

Requirements

Level 3 childcare qualification (or above)

Proven experience working in an early years / nursery setting

Previous experience as a Deputy Nursery Manager, Room Leader, or Senior Practitioner preferred

Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and health & safety

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

A genuine passion for early childhood education
