About the role
Join Balfour Beatty as a Highways Maintenance Operative, based at our Sleaford Depot in Lincolnshire. You'll be part of the Lincolnshire Highways Maintenance contract, working within the revenue team to deliver reactive, emergency, and winter service operational activities. Your work will be essential in ensuring all highways maintenance is completed to the highest Health, Safety, and Quality standards, making a real difference to the local community.What you'll be doing
Your accountabilities will be as follows:
- Carrying out a broad range of highways maintenance activities, including routine and cyclical maintenance, minor civils, emergency attendance, making sites safe, and temporary/permanent repairs.
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory and company procedures, especially Health & Safety, and contributing to a culture of Zero Harm.
- Reporting observations, close calls, and good practices, and supporting the delivery of winter and emergency services (in and out of hours).
- Using plant, equipment, and machinery effectively, and organising supplies of materials.
- Providing excellent customer service and acting as an ambassador for Balfour Beatty at all times.
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality service.
Who we're looking for
We are seeking individuals who are:

- Good communicators, willing to share knowledge, and always striving to improve performance.
Desirable experience includes:
- Carriageway repairs, highway civils, drainage, iron works, concreting, driving, gritting, traffic management, kerbing, block laying, slabbing, plant awareness, and manual handling.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Class 2 Licence, NRSWA, First Aid, Lantra T1/T2, CSCS, Abrasive Wheel, Manual Handling, Banksman, NVQ Winter Service, CPC, Chainsaw, Telehandler.
