Summary



Assist with processing invoices, receipts, and expense claims
Help maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and data
Perform regular bank reconciliations in coordination with the finance team
Support monthly financial reporting and reconciliations
Communicate with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice or payment queries
Support petty cash handling and expense tracking as required
Learn and apply finance software and tools (e.g. Xero) under supervision
File and organise financial and administrative documents, both digitally and physically
Ensure timely payment of supplier bills and maintain accurate audit trails
Assist with general financial record-keeping and reporting
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly
Provide administrative support across departments including Finance, Fundraising, HR, and Operations
Help prepare internal reports and presentations
Draft, update, and maintain internal finance documentation and procedures
Ensure compliance with internal policies and financial procedures
Support with ad-hoc tasks to help ensure smooth business operations


Training
Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3.
This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in an accounting or finance role. Their work could include assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements.
You will be studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting. You will study 5 units:


Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS).
Management Accounting Techniques (MATS).
Tax Processes for Business (TPFB).
Business Awareness (BUAW).
Advanced Synoptic Assessment (ADSY) which forms part of your End Point Assessment.An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off the job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills and behaviours associated with your apprenticeship.


Qualifications required

GCSE Maths & English – Grade 4 and above
AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2) desirable

Skills required

Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes (double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliations, etc.)
Competence in using Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
Numeracy and confidence in handling financial data
Ability to use (or willingness to learn) accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting and liaising with colleagues
Strong IT literacy and ability to adapt to finance systems
Basic understanding of workplace policies relating to finance, confidentiality, and compliance
