• Project and Production Oversight
• Guide students through film and television projects from concept to final delivery, ensuring creative and technical standards are met.
• Support students in real-world, project-based learning, fostering problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and safeguarding standards during all production activity.
• Industry Engagement
• Collaborate with industry partners to provide students with workshops, masterclasses, internships, and mentoring opportunities.
• Support students in presenting their work through showcases, screenings, festivals, or public events.
• Contribute to maintaining ELAM’s links with the creative industries to enhance student learning and progression.
• Student Support and Operational Responsibilities
• Provide mentorship and pastoral support to help students achieve their potential.
• Maintain teaching resources, equipment, and learning spaces, ensuring safe and effective use.
• Assist with assessment, tracking, and reporting of student outcomes.
• Promote and celebrate student achievements, contributing to ELAM’s profile and reputation.

Further details about the role

The Teacher of Film at East London Arts and Music (ELAM) plays a creative and industry-focused role at the heart of our Film provision. You will deliver high-quality, industry-relevant teaching, supporting the development and continuous improvement of a curriculum that reflects ELAM’s commitment to excellence, representation, and access.

You will plan and deliver lessons and practical projects that enable students to develop technical skills, creative voice, and professional behaviours. Working closely with the Director of Film & Television Production, colleagues, and industry partners, you will support projects that mirror professional practice, provide meaningful industry engagement opportunities, and showcase student work through high-quality productions and public platforms.

This is a hands-on teaching role suited to an experienced practitioner with strong knowledge of the film industry, a commitment to nurturing young talent, and a passion for widening participation and preparing students for careers in the creative industries.
