We are seeking to appoint a full-time Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic and dedicated team within Canolfan Ni, our specialist Learning Support Centre.Canolfan Ni supports students aged 11–19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, and physical and medical needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students to access the curriculum, develop independence and achieve their full potential, while contributing to the continued journey of Ysgol Penglais School in becoming an excellent school.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise and provide particular support for students, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activitiesUse specialist skills, training and experience to support students’ learning and developmentAssist with the management of Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmesEstablish constructive relationships with students and interact according to individual needsPromote inclusion, independence, self-esteem and positive behaviourWork with teachers to establish an appropriate learning environment and support lesson planning and deliveryMonitor, evaluate and record student progress and provide accurate feedback to teaching staffSupport curriculum access including community skills, healthy living, work experience, outdoor learning and expressive artsProvide routine support including personal care, toileting, feeding, administering medication and physical support where requiredContribute to the overall ethos, safeguarding responsibilities and values of the schoolWhat We OfferA research-based school with positive relationships between staff and studentsCommitment to professional development and training opportunitiesA supportive and friendly working environmentAccess to the university town of AberystwythA location on the beautiful Ceredigion coastThe Right candidate Will HaveVery good numeracy and literacy skillsNVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experienceExperience of working with or caring for children or young people (desirable)Ability to use ICT effectively to support learningUnderstanding of child development and learning processesA flexible, patient and hardworking approachA clear commitment to safeguarding and equal opportunitiesAbility to work constructively as part of a team and use initiative in a busy environment
