Health Improvement Worker – The National Child Measurement Programme

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derbyshire County Council’s Public Health Department, within Live Life Better Derbyshire. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Health Improvement Worker to focus primarily on the National Child Measurement Programme.

Every year in England, school children in reception and year 6 have their height and weight checked at school, the successful candidate will carry out these checks in Derbyshire. Children’s height and weight measurements are collected to build an understanding of how children are growing. The information from the NCMP is used by local councils and the NHS to plan the provision of health and leisure services for families to promote healthier growth in children. You may also support the work of the Healthier Futures family service, the community Health Improvement Worker team, and other Live Life Better Derbyshire services.

We have one part-time post (23 hours) which will focus on supporting the delivery of the National Child Measurement Programme predominantly within the Erewash locality, however, travel across the county will be a requirement.

An excellent level of IT literacy including proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and 365, along with the ability to adapt to bespoke databases is a key requirement of this role to maintain accurate records. It is also essential that the successful candidates have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.

This post is a hybrid role and will require office working, home working and working in the community, the role will involve regular travel across Derbyshire with essential equipment, access to a car is a requirement.
