About Thompsons of Prudhoe
We’re a long‑established group delivering complex demolition, earthworks, quarrying and environmental services across the UK. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a proactive Contracts Manager to oversee Demolition projects, be the face of Thompsons to our clients, and keep work flowing smoothly between site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders.
While prior demolition experience is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates with strong CDM knowledge gained in adjacent sectors (civils/building/utilities) who can transfer their skills into demolition.
As Contracts Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
Project leadership: Act as project lead for designated contracts, representing Thompsons to the client team while empowering Site Managers to run day‑to‑day works.
Stakeholder facilitation: Ensure information flows and actions are completed between clients, subcontractors, site teams, senior management and other stakeholders.
Commercial support: Provide timely updates to the commercial team to enable monthly valuations; flag potential variations early.
Programme management: Maintain and update the project programme (working with external planners where needed).
Reporting & meetings: Produce contractor reports and present them at periodic client progress meetings; attend weekly ops meetings; chair regular meetings with Site Management.
Compliance & administration: Manage contractual and legislative requirements and ensure safe systems of work documentation—RAMS, Perimetry, POWRA and Daily Briefings—are in place and adhered to.
Collaboration: Work closely with Management, Health & Safety, Environment, Technical, Commercial and Bid teams.
What we’re looking for
Proven experience managing complex civil engineering/demolition/earthworks contracts (or similar), leading multi‑disciplinary site teams and subcontractors.
Strong client‑facing skills with the ability to present progress, chair meetings and influence outcomes.
Solid grasp of programme management, commercial processes (valuations/variations) and contractual administration.
Deep commitment to QHSE, with hands‑on experience implementing RAMS/POWRA/Perimetry/Daily Briefings.
Confident communicator, organised, and calm under pressure; able to travel to sites as required.
We are committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout the application, recruitment, and onboarding processes for candidates that require additional support and/or adjustments to be made. If you are having any difficulty applying, please contact our recruitment team at hr@thompsonsofprudhoe.com
