What you'll do

Are you passionate about creating safe, compliant, and positive working environments? We’re looking for a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support the College in delivering high standards of safety, wellbeing and regulatory compliance across all our sites.

As our Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in embedding a strong safety culture, ensuring that colleagues and students feel confident, supported, and empowered to work safely. You’ll provide expert guidance, conduct audits and inspections, support risk management activity, and help drive continuous improvements across the estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide competent health & safety advice to managers and colleagues across the organisation.
  • Lead and support risk assessments, including COSHH, manual handling, machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct routine audits, inspections and investigations, ensuring clear reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Support the development and delivery of training, inductions and safety briefings.
  • Monitor compliance with legislation, industry standards and internal policies and procedures.
  • Champion a positive health & safety culture, promoting awareness and shared responsibility.
  • Collaborate closely with Estates, Facilities, operational teams and curriculum colleagues to maintain safe working environments.

Who we're looking for

You’ll be someone who is approachable, confident and solutions-focused, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation. You will bring:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and investigations.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • An eye for detail with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • The ability to balance compliance with pragmatic guidance.
