Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School
TeacherActive is very proud to be working with a welcoming, medium-sized mainstream primary school in Nottingham, known for its supportive leadership and inclusive ethos.
We are looking for a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about education, who enjoys taking initiative and making a positive impact on pupils’ progress and wellbeing.
The successful HLTA will:
• Deliver planned lessons and cover classes in the absence of the class teacher
• Support pupils individually and in small groups to enhance learning outcomes
• Work closely with teaching staff to plan, assess, and adapt learning activities
• Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
• Support pupils’ emotional, social, and academic development
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers where appropriate
✅ What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience working as a HLTA or in a similar role within a primary setting
• Confidence delivering lessons across KS1 and KS2
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to learning support
• Relevant qualification: HLTA status or Level 4 Teaching Assistant (or equivalent)
Bonus (but not essential):
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN/SEND
• Experience covering PPA or whole-class teaching
