Job Advert
We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Joiner to join HMS, part of Torus Group. You’ll play a key role in delivering a
high-quality, efficient and responsive service to our customers, working across occupied and void properties. You’ll carry out a
wide range of joinery works and associated multi-skilled tasks, contributing to our “one job, one visit” approach while
maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety and customer care.
What You Will Be Doing:
* Carry out all aspects of internal and external joinery, including plastic and composite products, maintenance and remedial
works
* Undertake associated trade tasks (e.g. basic plastering, tiling and plumbing) to support efficient service delivery
* Plan and organise work effectively to meet priority response times and performance targets
* Work within scheduled appointment systems, liaising directly with customers and colleagues
* Diagnose faults, carry out pre-measuring and determine repair requirements in line with contractual guidelines
* Supervise and support apprentices or trainees when required
* Use IT and mobile devices to receive instructions, complete work orders and order materials
* Ensure accurate completion of all documentation and system updates
* Drive and maintain a company vehicle, stock and equipment responsibly
* Manage materials efficiently, minimising waste and delays
* Comply fully with Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work
* Participate in training, development and competency programmes
* Work collaboratively with schedulers, planners, customer liaison officers and contractors
* Take part in an out-of-hours rota when required (additional payment applies)
What We’re Looking For:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Joinery or relevant craft discipline
* CSCS card at the appropriate level
* Experience in multi-skilled trade activities
* Full UK or EU driving licence
* Completed apprenticeship (time served)
* Proven experience in joinery, building maintenance and construction
* Strong customer service skills
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
* Experience supervising or supporting apprentices
Interview Process:
* Candidates will be invited to in-person interviews at our Stonebridge office, which will include a competency-based interview.
