Summary

Job Purpose:
The Director MDX Studios is responsible for staff and students. Working to the Executive
Lead they are responsible for the success of the Studios across all areas identified in the
work stream charter for the Design, Film and Art schools, Faculty of Arts and Creative
Industries known as MDX Studios: The Creative School from 1st Sept 2026.
The post-holder will play a leading role in the development and delivery of MDX Studios and
will also be responsible for strategic direction and planning of the service. The successful
candidate will have overall responsibility for all aspects of MDX Studios including the
experience and success of students, workforce planning, line management, portfolio
development, commercial operations, budgeting and resource allocation in the Arts and
Creative Industries. They will lead the development and implementation of the work stream
charter, which sets out the transformation objectives for MDX Studios, shapes its direction
and focus and establishes its goals and targets.
The role requires a significant track record in leadership, line management, logical and
creative thinking. The post holder will be expected to act in an independent capacity with
autonomy. Exceptional management skills are vital especially in strategic and analytical
thinking and the post holder will have the ability to communicate and influence at all levels

expected to uphold and role-model university values and to work for the good of the whole
community. The post holder be responsible for the management and development of up to 5
senior managers as direct reports.
