Summary
Act as a support worker within the multi-disciplinary team, under the direction of qualified practitioners Provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff Liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the Emergency Department (ED) including escalation of concerns
related to patient safety
The Emergency Department Assistant’s main duties include but are not inclusive to:
Patient personal care including incontinence care, dressing, washing and oral care
Nutritional support including assistant patients with meals
Performing initial investigations such as venepuncture, cannulation and point of care testing
Escorting patients to different departments for treatments/investigations within the hospital
Transferring patients within the department, including patient handover
Daily cleaning and stocking.
