Summary

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Registered Building Inspector to join our Local Authority’s Building Control team. You’ll join a busy team and play a key role in ensuring that building work across our borough complies with the relevant legislation and technical guidance documents. The service is working to QMS standards (accredited to ISO 9001 2015) for the provision of public sector building control and public protection.

Key Responsibilities
• Assess building regulation applications, plans, and specifications.
• Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations and approved plans.
• Liaise with architects, builders, and members of the public on building control matters.
• Investigate dangerous structures and take appropriate enforcement action.
• Work collaboratively with other agencies such as planning, environmental health, and fire safety colleagues.
• Keep up to date with changes in legislation, codes of practice, and technical standards.

We are looking for someone with:
• Registered Building Inspector minimum 2a (or evidence of working towards Registration)
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Building Control, Construction, Surveying, or a related field.
• Membership (or working towards) of RICS, CABE, or CIOB.
• Strong knowledge of building regulations and construction practices.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.

Pendle is in Lancashire’s scenic Pennines, close to the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and Manchester.
