Summary
The standard hours of work are 39-hours per week, across 7 days a week. There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.
By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The Painter & Decorator plays a key role in supporting the Clean, Rehabilitative, Enabling & Decent (CRED) programme. This includes working alongside prisoners to supervise and guide them in developing hands‑on employability skills while contributing to the improvement of living conditions across the prison estate. Through this work, you will help deliver a safe, decent environment and support meaningful rehabilitation activities, contributing to both social value and prisoner development.
What you will do:
Planned and reactive paint work in all areas of the prison.
Responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools, materials and additional company property.
Compliance with relevant company Health & Safety Policy, instructions and directive.
This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What you will bring:
Qualified to NVQ 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating
Previous relevant work-related experience.
Good awareness and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments.
Comfortable working alongside prisoners.
We welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates.
Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
