An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen at our school. The Governing Body wish to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Children’s Welfare Officer who will have an important voice within the School Leadership Team.

Inclusion of all pupils is at the forefront of our work. The Children’s Welfare Officer plays a fundamental role in ensuring the ongoing health and welfare of all pupils. The right candidate will be passionate and committed to the safeguarding of all children and their families ensuring that it is at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to demonstrate initiative in decision making around safeguarding issues including complex cases, and who will work effectively together to promote, strengthen, and develop support for our pupils and families.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be part of the Designated Safeguarding Team for the school. Act as the lead professional in all matters relating to children’s welfare, including early help, attendance, safeguarding and child protection.
  • Have good interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with staff, children and families.
  • Be forward thinking, receptive to change and able to work under pressure.
  • Be hard working and make a valuable contribution to the life of our school.
  • Manage workloads effectively and efficiently, prioritising and responding to urgent need.
  • Represent and make informed and measured decisions on behalf of the Headteacher on matters relating to child welfare, including those at Child Protection Conferences and meetings, and during Court proceedings.
  • Provide, or signpost, effective programmes of work for and with children and families within the school.
  • Collate data and provide regular reports to the Governing Board.
