The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Bricklaying professional who is passionate about sharing their expertise and helping students achieve their potential. You should have a strong background in the Construction Industry with hands on experience in techniques such as cavity wall construction solid walls using different bonds projecting feature work and decorative panels including angled work with a sound understanding of the industry standards and practices.
You’ll need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate learners from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels from those starting their careers, apprentices through to adults seeking to upskill. As part of the role, you will be expected to perform workplace monitoring visits for apprentices and engage with employers.
A teaching qualification e.g. PGCE Cert Ed is desirable but if you don’t already have one, we will provide support to help you achieve it.
We are looking for someone who is organised adaptable and dedicated to creating a positive learning environment. You should be able to deliver engaging lessons, assess progress effectively and tailor your teaching approach to meet the needs of individual students. A commitment to maintaining a safe and professional workshop environment with a focus on health and safety is essential.
Experience in education or training is an advantage but a genuine enthusiasm for developing the next generation of bricklaying professionals is what matters most. About You
As our Bricklaying Trainer you will play an essential part in guiding our students through the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to succeed in the Construction Industry. You will deliver hands on engaging lessons in both our state-of-the-art workshop and classroom settings working with students of varying levels from those starting their careers to those looking to develop or upskill their abilities through to apprentices. Your expertise will help students gain the skills necessary for a successful career in Bricklaying ensuring they meet industry standards.
You will prepare and deliver lessons practical demonstrations and assessments while supporting students in their learning journey including the workplace. You will also monitor their progress provide constructive feedback and foster an environment where learners feel confident and motivated to succeed. Safety will be a top priority, and you will ensure that students follow health and safety guidelines in practical sessions
and maintain a safe working environment in college and the workplace.
You will also collaborate closely with colleagues and course leaders to ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively and that resources are well managed. Your contributions will help maintain a high standard of teaching and learning within the Construction department and you will actively participate in course development to ensure content is relevant and aligned with industry trends.

Required
• Level 3 in a relevant subject area or significant sector experience
• Teaching qualification (must be willing to work towards Level 4 PGCE if not already held)
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification) or willingness to work towards in service.
• Previous relevant work experience within industry
