The Opportunity
Barnsley College is seeking an inspirational Head of Teaching and Learning Excellence to lead innovation and drive a culture of outstanding teaching, training, and learning across the College. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of education in a highly ambitious and successful organisation.
In this role, you will champion high-quality teaching, training and assessment, ensuring exceptional student outcomes and satisfaction. You will lead the Teaching, Learning and Digital Innovation teams, working collaboratively with senior leaders and departments to embed a learner-centric, high-performance culture.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Driving improvements in teaching, training, learning and assessment across all provision types.
• Leading professional development, teacher induction, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Developing strategies to ensure the College remains inspection-ready and achieves outstanding results.
• Supporting innovation in pedagogy and the use of technology to enhance learning experiences.
This is a strategic leadership role where you will make a significant impact on the quality of education and the success of thousands of learners.
About You
You will be an experienced and visionary educational leader with:
• A relevant degree and formal teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent).
• Significant experience in FE teaching/training and improving teaching and learning to an exceptional level.
• Proven ability to lead staff development and use technology creatively to enhance learning.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
A management qualification and experience of Ofsted inspections are desirable.
