This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £11,757.85 – £12,125.81 per annum. For any roles that start part way through the academic year, the annual salary will be pro rata to the remaining months.

Please note this role does involve regular travel to businesses and internships as required.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

There is a developing LDD department at Royal Leamington Spa for full time students with Special Educational Needs, aged 16-24 attending study programmes to develop skills in readiness for work and independence.

The post holder will work within the supported Learning department at Royal Leamington Spa. The post holder will work closely with the staff, students and employers to provide the most appropriate work experience placements and Supported Internships for the students and facilitate student success in the workplace.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· To develop and maintain a broad base of employers with whom the department can work with to secure suitable work placements and Supported Internships for SEND students.

· To work closely with the students, parents/carers/agency workers, tutors to identify the work aspirations of the students and place students in their chosen area of work.

· To arrange and deliver travel training to the students as required for their work experience placement and Supported Internships.

· To comply with the College’s policies for work experience placements and Supported Internships and Health & Safety and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed prior to the placement.

· To provide support to the work placement and supported Internship providers and facilitate the opportunity for placements.

· To set targets for the work placement and work with the Job Coach for the Supported Internships to support the students to attain their outcomes and record this on their ILP and regularly review progress with the students.

· To provide students with guidance interviews and support.

· To develop and sustain good working relations with existing employers and new employers.

· To maintain and develop a database of suitable work experience providers and input provider names onto the College’s CRM system.

· To provide regular reports for departmental managers.

· To be innovative and enterprising in arranging work placements to benefit the students.

· To support employer events and conferences staged by the college and department to the benefit of students.

· To promote and market work experience in a positive and dynamic way.

· To attend team meetings and work as part of a team and attend external meetings as required.

· To work on one’s own initiative and support the team’s objectives including to facilitate and enable positive destinations for all the students.

· To be flexible particularly in dealing with busy employers.

· To record contact hours with students to claim the appropriate funding.

· To assist with any other support duties across the Academy as may be required from time to time including preparation of open days/career events.

· To undertake CPD as required by the Academy and College

· To attend college delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training

In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

Essential Attainments

✓GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification.
✓A good general education at Level 2 or above.
✓Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications.
✓Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
✓Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
✓Knowledge of the commercial sector.
✓Experience of working in a customer focused role.
✓Experience of working effectively with processes and systems.

Desirable Attainments
