Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maternity Support Worker to join the team within the Antenatal Clinic Outpatient Department.

You must be experienced, enthusiastic, caring and must be able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team providing women and their families excellent clinical care alongside the midwifery team and the wider medical team.

Your role will include:
• Supporting Midwives and Dr's to ensure all women receive optimum care.
• Implementing plans of care to pregnant women, within the Hospital setting.
• Performing a range of delegated patient duties including recording and documenting patients details in there pregnancy notes and on computer.



Your main duties will include;
• To undertake safe phlebotomy practice as requested by the Midwife, work autonomously performing blood sample procedures including Glucose Tolerance Testing.
• At the request of the Midwife, perform and record physiological measurements and report accurately to the Midwife.
• Obtaining samples at the request of a Midwife or Doctor, including wound swabs and urine specimens.
• To have an awareness and recognition of safeguarding issues and domestic violence issues and report these concerns to appropriate health professionals.
• To have an awareness of the infection control policy and how to minimise risk.
• To be involved with cleaning and infection control in the department.
• To chaperone medical staff.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations within the remit of the MSW role.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies, Standard Operating Procedures and clinical guidelines.

The successful applicant must be passionate about providing care and support to women and their families during pregnancy.

You will need to demonstrate your commitment to ongoing professional development within your role, with a commitment to working as part of a team and willing to demonstrate a high standard of evidence-based care in line with local and national initiatives.

The successful candidates will be working within the Antenatal Clinic Outpatient Department, Maternity Triage & Day Assessment Unit.

You will be supporting Midwives and Dr's to ensure all women receive optimum care, implementation of care and a range of designated patient duties to include clinical care and the recording of patient details/records.
