Summary

Job Title: QA Tester - Fixed Term Contract ending Dec 2028

Contract: Civil Service Learning (Learning Frameworks 2.0)

Location: UK-based, homebased - occasional travel

Reports To: QA Manager

As the QA Tester you will support the delivery of high-quality learning technology solutions across the Learning Frameworks 2.0 programme. This includes testing software and system configurations, validating content and accessibility standards, and ensuring robust data integration across platforms such as LMS/LXP, business systems, and internal government systems.

Essential:

• Experience in software testing, preferably within public sector or learning technology programmes.
• Familiarity with LMS platforms, content validation, and accessibility standards.
• Understanding of data integration testing, including APIs and reporting tools.

Desirable

• ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent.
• Knowledge of enterprise learning platform implementations

In addition, you will also have:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to design and follow structured test plans and scripts.
• Ability work in an analytical, disciplined and systematic approach with limited assistance

What you'll be doing:

The Primary objective of software tester role is to validate whether the System Under Test works as specified by the users and other stakeholders. They are also responsible for designing test cases, test scripts and test data. They execute and record the outcome of manual and automated testing. And log the defects as applicable. With very limited assistance they can work in analytical, disciplined and systematic approach and they can take ownership on small pieces of work.

• Designing test cases based on the test basis (e.g. user stories)
• Designing and documenting test cases, scripts and test data
• Executing and recording manual and automated testing in accordance with test plans
• Logging accurate and complete defects
• Escalating issues and blockers to Senior Software Tester/Team Lead
• Applying agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result
• Gaining knowledge and experience through on job training
