Summary

The clinical support worker works under the direct supervision of the minor injuries nurse practitioners and is accountable to the Lead Nurse for their actions in undertaking delegated work. This is guided by standard procedures and requires a degree of initiative. The clinical support worker also provides support for other members of the UTC care team. Undertakes agreed procedures to include: wound care, including wound closure application of plaster of Paris casts to limb injuries and general dressing and bandaging of minor injuries, 12 lead ECG placement. Supporting patients who are anxious and or distressed. Assists patients and where appropriate encourages self care and self management of injuries through health education Refers to other members of the health care team as appropriate Works within all relevant practice policies and procedures e.g. health and safety at work Responsible for order and regulation of clinical supplies and upkeep of equipment within the department Actively contributes and promotes high standards for infection control in the clinical area Contributes in the creation of confidential electronic patient records Health promotion Encourages and supports individuals, families and groups to address issues which affect their health and social well-being Represents the interests of individuals and families when they are not able to do so themselves Develops and maintains the health promotion material within the unit including displays for the waiting room Manage and lead Contributes to the development, monitoring and evaluation of care delivered by the health care team Promotes effective communication and relationships within the team Works collaboratively as a team member to achieve the objectives of the Urgent care contract and aspirations of the team Partakes in clinical supervision for own development Actively participates in Team meetings Develops own knowledge and practice to meet objectives/changes in service Manage and use information Makes effective use of the IT system by ensuring the consistent and accurate entering of data and use of Read codes Makes recommendations to raise standards of practice and service delivery Identifies and supports the management of safeguarding of adults, children, young people.
