Summary
BP monitoring To undertake duties associated with 24 hour blood pressure monitoring to fitting and downloading from patient Phlebotomy Carry out ECGs Conduct new patient health checks and NHS health checks Reviewing patients with Long Term Conditions to record routine measurements, offering disease management advice in accordance with the practice's clinical protocols. Obtaining specimens eg urine, and testing as instructed and completing appropriate laboratory forms and contacting patients to follow up results. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses, ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed Weight monitoring Routine Preventative Immunisations INR monitoring and the use of INR star (training will be given) Basic wound care/leg ulcer care Removal of sutures Spirometry Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording Clearing and re-stocking nursing rooms To monitor usage of sharps bins, ensuring that rooms are adequately stocked and bins are transferred to storage for collection Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted, provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the Practice Ordering and display of health promotional materials Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs Maintain and clean equipment used by the nurses and GPs according to the practice infection control policy To order supplies as directed by the nursing and management team Undertake housekeeping duties, including general tidiness and cleanliness of clinical rooms Maintain accurate records Such other administrative or clinical duties that maybe required from time to time by the Partners, Nursing Team and the Managerial Team.
