Summary

We are looking for a Digital Marketing Officer to join our Commercial Team and work within the Marketing Department to help promote the railway and its activities. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and managing the railway’s digital presence, including social media channels, website content and online campaigns. The role will focus on promoting and driving railway ticket sales whilst also supporting marketing initiatives across various departments including Visitor Experience, Volunteering and Hospitality & Retail.

The successful candidate will manage our social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and others), developing engaging content that promotes our services, events and seasonal offers, ensuring that content aligns with brand voice and campaign objectives. Candidates should have demonstratable experience of planning, producing, and publishing engaging content across these various platforms to align with brand identity.

A core element of the role will include implementing and monitoring paid social media advertising campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and bookings across our range of journey experiences, tailoring messaging to resonate with specific customers for each product.

The successful candidate will be required to have an onsite presence, creating content as required, therefore this post is not suitable for remote working. Candidates should be flexible; able to work occasional weekends and attend events for content capture.

Core skills
• Experience of managing social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube and/or similar) and paid social media campaigns
• Fully IT literate to include proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud; Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
• Creative, proactive and able to bring fresh ideas and perspectives for social content and promotional campaigns
• Experience of content creation to include writing captions, posts and short form copy; photography and short form video capture
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail
• Must be adaptable and able to work on own initiative with good time management skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, particularly around events and peak tourism seasons
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Interest in heritage, railways, tourism, and community engagement is required
The ability to speak Welsh would be a distinct advantage as would knowledge of the tourism, heritage, and / or hospitality sectors, with particular emphasis on the North Wales market.
